About Our Program

For just over nine years we were a mother/daughter run in-home childcare program. Sadly, LeeAnn passed away in unexpectedly in 2023 so Doodlebug is now run solely by her daughter, Alex, with help from her wonderful substitute Jess. Doodlebug is located in the Brickyard area of Salt Lake. We opened our doors September 2nd, 2014 and enroll children from ages 12 months old through school age! We offer a preschool program that teaches children number and letter recognition, how to write spell  names, early reading skills, social skills, learning through play and much more! We do fun science experiments, exciting art projects, and lots of outdoor play! We also, of course, take care of all daily needs such as providing meals, snacks, diaper changes, potty training, naps, free play, hands-on activities, and lots of cuddles!
"We transitioned from nanny-care to Doodlebug connection about 7 months ago. Since day 1, our daughter has been happy and excited to get dropped off. LeeAnn and Alex show such love for her and the other kids, that we never worry about her well-being while she is in their care. We know she is loved and nurtured all day long. They have helped us develop routines that let her thrive. Doodlebug Connection has been a lifesaver for us and we love the whole community." - Sunita J.
"Choosing the right daycare for our family was challenging and scary, to say the least, but LeeAnn and Alex made it so easy. We're two moms raising two boys, so love and acceptance of our family was our number one priority when seeking childcare. In every daycare inquiry we made, we introduced ourselves as an LGTBQ family and before asking anything else, I would say "are you okay with that?". I didn't receive but two responses and Doodlebug asked "why would that be an issue?". Not only did we find love and acceptance immediately with LeeAnn and Alex, but we were embraced by every other Doodlebug family. We trust LeeAnn and Alex and all of the other children and parents 1000% with our boys. We know that our boys are loved and respected as tiny humans as they develop their personalities, push boundaries, and even test the limits of patience. They're amazing at setting schedules/routines which has helped us immensely at home. All of the kids are learning through activities and play and LeeAnn and Alex are always collaborative with the parents when trying new things or working on areas of individual need with the kids. I can't say enough how much we value being a part of the Doodlebug family." ~ Janna M.
"Our daughter has been in the care of LeeAnn & Alex since she was 3 months old, she is now 5 and we cannot thank them enough for everything they have done and provided. They are family, and we are so happy for them being in our and our daughters lives. Their love and care for the kids goes above & beyond. Their one on one attention and care given to each child has no doubt given our daughter a huge learning leap way above her grade level, and we are so grateful for this and everything else!!!" ~ Jesse S.

Meet the caregivers!

LeeAnn was a loving wife, mother, and Nana. She raised her own kids for over 20 years as a stay-at-home mom and once her kids were grown she decided that it was time to enter back into the workforce. She knew so much about caring for kids and loved being around them, so it only seemed natural to enter the field of childcare which eventually led to her joining Alex in the wonderful, crazy journey of opening Doodlebug Connection together.

Alex is 30 years old and has a two year old named Wyatt! She has been working professionally in childcare for over 11 years and has always loved being around kids, even when she was still one herself. In her free time she loves to be with her friends and family and taking Wyatt on fun adventures! She loves reading, photography, writing, music, fall weather, and watching her favorite shows. In the future she sees herself continuing the path of working in childcare and growing her family.

Jess joined Doodlebug as a substitute/assistant in 2024. She's
33 and lives with her partner and their two year old and seven month old daughters! She spent 13 collective years in childcare working with children from birth to 16 years old, including operating a Summer Camp/After School Care program for 4 years in South Carolina. She loves to spend her free time snowboarding in the winter or camping in the warmer months with her family and their dogs!
